Lake Worth Neighborhoods

Beyond Lake Charleston: Communities Nearby in Suburban Lake Worth

Lake Charleston is one of several planned communities in suburban Lake Worth and Royal Palm Beach. Here is what published community guides say about three nearby options — physical features, amenities and price data — and the due diligence each one calls for.

Lake Charleston is one of several planned communities in suburban Lake Worth, west of Florida’s Turnpike, and it is not the only one worth a look (Wilder). A short drive away are communities with different layouts, amenities and price points. This guide sticks to physical, verifiable features and published price data. It does not describe who lives in any of these communities, because that is not a feature of the housing and not something an advertisement should characterise.

Winston Trails

Winston Trails sits just northeast of Lake Charleston. Published community guides describe it as gated, built around an 18-hole golf course with a clubhouse, tennis courts and a community pool, and with a walking trail of about two miles through the community (PalmBeachCountyHomeForSale, “Winston Trails”). I have written a fuller guide to Winston Trails on this site.

What to verify: Winston Trails has a master HOA plus sub-association layers, similar to Lake Charleston, so review both sets of financials and rules before an offer (Wilder). Wilder also flags parts of the area for flood-insurance questions; check the specific parcel on the FEMA flood map and get an insurance quote early (Wilder; FEMA).

Madison Green (Royal Palm Beach)

Madison Green, northwest of Lake Charleston in Royal Palm Beach on Okeechobee Boulevard, is a gated community of more than 1,200 single-family homes across twelve subdivisions, according to one brokerage guide (RealEstateOfFlorida). The same guide lists a clubhouse, a large heated pool and spa, a children’s pool, a playground, a fitness centre, meeting rooms, and tennis and basketball courts, plus a public-access par-72 golf course with a driving range and putting green that runs through preserved pine and oak areas (RealEstateOfFlorida). It is a short drive to shopping and dining on Okeechobee Boulevard.

A June 2026 guide put Madison Green prices at roughly $420,000 to $700,000, with the Walden at Madison Green section at about $440,000 to $658,000 (PalmBeachCountyHomeForSale, “Madison Green”). Those are a snapshot; check current sales with the Property Appraiser and MLS data.

What to verify: master HOA plus sub-HOA financials, and the construction era of the specific subdivision. Some sections date from the 1980s and 1990s and others from the 2000s, so inspection scope — roof, plumbing, electrical, windows — differs accordingly (Wilder).

Valencia Shores

Valencia Shores, southwest of Lake Charleston, is an age-restricted community operated under the Housing for Older Persons Act. Published guides describe 1,143 single-family homes built by GL Homes in the 2000s, with two clubhouses (an athletic club and a social club), fitness centres and tennis courts (PalmBeachCountyHomeForSale, “Valencia Shores”). I cover it in more detail in a separate Valencia Shores guide.

What to verify: the association’s age-restriction and occupancy rules in its governing documents, what the HOA fee includes (guides mention lawn care), the reserve study and any special assessments (Wilder).

Other smaller neighbourhoods

There are smaller neighbourhoods nearby as well, including Hampton Creek and Lakeview Estates. I have not included details on them here because the published sources I found described residents rather than the housing. If you are considering either, the same checklist applies: HOA structure and assessments, flood zone, insurance, and for lakefront lots, what the deed and HOA documents actually say about lake access.

The due-diligence checklist

  • HOA structure: master and sub-association budgets, reserves, assessments and rules.
  • Construction era: scope the inspection to the age of the home.
  • Flood zone and insurance: check the parcel on the FEMA Flood Map Service Center and get a quote before you commit (FEMA).
  • Taxes: confirm the taxing district and current bill with the Palm Beach County Property Appraiser (Palm Beach County Property Appraiser).
  • Schools: confirm assignment for a specific address with the School District of Palm Beach County boundary locator; assignments change.

A final thought

The right community is the one whose layout, amenities, costs and rules fit your plans and budget. That starts with the documents and the data, not with a description. For broader context on the area, see the Lake Worth page and the market page.
